SJF Ventures Invests in Raise.me

San Francisco, CA – May 4, 2015 – SJF Ventures is pleased to announce it has invested in CA-based Raise.me, a company that is reinventing educational pathways and changing the way students access billions of dollars each year in scholarships and grants for college.  Owl Ventures, First Round Capital, Deborah Quazzo and other angels were also investors in this $4.5MM Series A round.

Raise.me empowers students to earn “micro-scholarships” throughout high school for their individual achievements, creating a more transparent and motivational process while enabling the students to see the guaranteed minimum amount of aid they’ll receive from an institution long before they apply.  For higher-education professionals in admissions, financial aid or enrollment, Raise.me is a new way to get the word out about their schools and scholarships. It also allows them to connect with and attract a more diverse range of prospective students, including from populations that are underrepresented on their campuses.

Students at about 7,000 schools across the U.S. already use Raise.me. The company partners with colleges in 26 states so far to ensure scholarships are available to them.
